Scott Darger, DVM - Founder
Dr. Darger founded Power Road Animal Hospital in 1998. He built the practice from the ground up, establishing what became one of the foremost general veterinary practices in Maricopa County. Dr. Darger graduated from Colorado State University in 1991. He began practicing in the East Valley shortly after graduation, working at various hospitals, including Mesa Veterinary Hospital, Adobe Veterinary Hospital and running his own mobile practice.
Kevin Butler, DVM
Dr. Butler is originally from Chicago but has called Arizona home since 1980. Veterinary medicine was his goal since childhood, so he started his career at the University of Arizona as a pre-vet, majoring in Animal Health Science. After graduating in 1986, Dr. Butler received his veterinary training at Colorado State University. He graduated from CSU in 1991 and has practiced in the East Valley since then. In 2001, he began training in Veterinary Medical Acupuncture at Colorado State University. He came to Aberdeen Animal Hospital in 2005, Dr. Butler has practiced both traditional “Western” medicine while incorporating “Traditional Chinese Medicine” and acupuncture. While practicing medicine is a daily joy, Dr. Butler likes spending his free time reading, biking and going to the park with his “furry kids” Paris, a yellow Labrador and Keiko, a Miniature Schnauzer.
Betsy King, DVM
Dr. King received her veterinary training at the University of California at Davis and graduated with her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 1982. She developed an intense interest in all aspects of helping animals including Alternative Therapies of acupuncture, herbal and chiropractic treatments as compliments to tradition Western therapies. She studied acupuncture with the International Veterinary Association Society and was certified by the IVAS in 2001 as a veterinary acupuncturist.
She has studied Basic and Advanced Chinese Herbal Therapies and obtained certification to practice these approaches by the International Veterinary Chiropractic Association in 2005.
During her long career, Dr. King has been a partner in a veterinary clinic in San Diego, operated her own mobile practice in Mesa, and finally joined Aberdeen Animal Hospital in 2004. She has lived in Mesa since 1986 with her wonderful husband, and 2 normal kids. They share their home with Steve, Tyler and Homer – all members of the feline species.

Micahel Longoni, DVM
Dr. Longoni was born and raised in Tucson. He went to undergraduate school at The Colorado College in Colorado Springs. He received his DVM from Colorado State University in 1992. Before joining Power Road Animal Hospital l he was the Assistant Medical Director for The Emergency Animal Clinic, PLC. He was at EAC for 10 years. He lives at “Running Poodle Ranch” with his wife, one Siamese cat and three rescued Standard Poodles.
John Stephens, DVM
Dr. Stephens received his undergraduate degree in biology at the University of Arizona before graduating from Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2001. He has lived in Arizona for more than 20 years and currently lives in Chandler, with his pride and joy, a kitty named “Murphy”.. Dr. Stephens has worked at several veterinary clinics in Maricopa County and joined Power Road Animal in September 2006. He enjoys all aspects of small animal veterinary medicine and in his off time he enjoys traveling and music.
